Equipment Operator

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating both light and heavy equipment on the construction site to perform excavation and earth moving as required by the construction plans.  The Equipment Operator works closely with the Site Supervisor, Foreman, General Superintendent and Project Manager to maintain an understanding of the project requirements and perform applicable work with minimal supervision.  Communication with and supervision of crews on site are imperative for the success of this position.  The Equipment Operator must ensure that the equipment being used is in proper working order and continually maintain all standards of safety.

Mechanic

Mechanics are a critical position at DHF, ensuring that equipment and vehicles are in optimal condition for daily use on job sites and travel.  Mechanics are responsible to ensure that safety procedures are followed within the shop, and that the equipment is functioning safely. A mechanic should have ample experience, leadership skills, training ability and can communicate effectively.

Paving

A paving team member is responsible for operating equipment and hands-on work to ensure the job is done accurately and at the highest quality.  The paving team works closely with the Paving Manager and Site Supervisors to maintain an understanding of the project requirements and perform applicable work with minimal supervision.

Pipe Foreman

The Foreman will work on larger job sites under the supervision of the SS, training in the responsibilities as a SS, or on smaller job sites as the supervisor under the supervision of a PM or GS.  The FM is responsible to learn to supervise crews, activities, schedules, job costs, and most importantly safety.  The FM works closely with the Site Supervisor, General Superintendent and Project Manager to be trained as a Site Supervisor to handle jobs independently.  Communication, competence, teamwork, goal-setting and mentoring, while maintaining the values and missions of DH Funk & Sons, are crucial attributes for the Foreman position.

Pipe Labor

Pipe Laborers are essential to the success of DHF.  Pipe Laborers are responsible for the hands-on, day-to-day work that takes place on each job site.  Pipe Laborers are responsible for the installation and repair of underground utilities.  The Pipe Laborer works under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, Foreman, and/or Operator, sometimes independently and sometimes with a team.

Site Supervisor

The Site Supervisor position is a key leadership position that is vital to the success of a project from start to finish.  The Site Supervisor is responsible for on-site supervision of crews, activities, schedules, job costs, and most importantly safety.  The Site Supervisor works closely with the General Superintendent and Project Manager to schedule resources for the job.  It is the responsibility of the Site Supervisor to regularly assess the project and make changes as deemed necessary for the most beneficial outcome of the project.  Communication, competence, teamwork, goal-setting and mentoring, while maintaining the values and missions of DH Funk & Sons, are crucial attributes for the Site Supervisor position.
